The Looking Glass
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).
I looked into a looking glass—
The image I saw there
Was full of flaws, a sorry sight
In need of much repair.
I took another look and tried
To mend the awful mess,
But each attempt just made it worse,
And deepened my distress.
I met a man called Jesus,
Who works at changing hearts;
I bowed myself before Him:
That's where all changing starts.
I looked into a looking glass
And saw my Savior's face:
A glorious image I beheld
Of holiness and grace.
I took another look and saw
A face I'd seen before,
Transformed into a likeness of
The One whom I adore.
Even by the Spirit of our God.
