The Greatest Is Love
"And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity" (1 Corinthians 13:13).
God's love is perfect and beautiful. Satan's counterfeit is the most corrupt kind of love--lust--which is totally selfish. It uses other people and their possessions to satisfy selfish desires. This kind of love destroys men and women's lives.
The Bible describes the kind of love that is up building both to the possessor and those he comes in contact with. Jesus even stretched it out to loving our enemies. But when you think about it, they are also people for whom Christ died. Why would we want to destroy them? The love Jesus showed at Calvary is amazing and heavenly. Love puts others first and that kind of love blesses our own souls.
When Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment, He answered, "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these" Mark 12:30-31). No doubt, these are some of the greatest words ever spoken.
